VFW membership is more than a card—it is an opportunity to continue serving alongside fellow veterans who understand the experiences, sacrifices, and camaraderie of overseas service.

To become a member of VFW Post 8905, please apply directly through our Post. Applying through VFW National’s online system may initially register you as a Member-at-Large rather than a member of Post 8905.

Who Is Eligible?

To qualify for membership in the VFW, you must meet both of the following requirements:

1. Honorable Service: You must currently serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces and received an Honorable or General (Under Honorable Conditions) discharge.
2. Qualifying Overseas Service: You must have served in a war, campaign, or expedition on foreign soil or in hostile waters. Eligibility may be established through an authorized campaign medal or badge, receipt of Hostile Fire Pay or Imminent Danger Pay, or service in Korea for 30 consecutive or 60 non-consecutive days.

Eligibility information is usually available on a veteran’s DD-214. If additional documentation is needed or the DD-214 is incomplete, military service records may be requested from the National Archives or by calling the National Personnel Records Center at 314-801-0800.
