Unwavering Support for Uncommon Heroes®
For more than 100 years, the VFW Auxiliary has supported the Veterans of Foreign Wars while serving veterans, active-duty service members and their families, and promoting patriotism throughout our communities.
Membership in the VFW Auxiliary is open to eligible men and women. You do not need to be a veteran to join. Eligible family members can honor the service of a living or deceased veteran while continuing that veteran’s legacy through service to others.
Who Is Eligible?
Applicants must be at least 16 years old and be one of the following relatives of a person who is eligible for VFW membership:
- Husband or wife
- Widower or widow
- Father or mother
- Grandfather or grandmother
- Son or daughter
- Grandson or granddaughter
- Brother or sister
Step- and adopted parents, children, siblings, grandparents and grandchildren are treated the same as biological relatives. Half-siblings are also eligible.
The qualifying veteran must have served honorably and meet VFW eligibility requirements through qualifying overseas service, service in Korea, receipt of hostile-fire or imminent-danger pay, or an authorized campaign or service medal. Proof of the veteran’s qualifying service is required.
Veterans May Be Eligible Too
Veterans who are not personally eligible for VFW membership may still qualify for the Auxiliary through an eligible spouse, parent, grandparent, child, grandchild or sibling. However, a veteran who is eligible for VFW membership generally must join the VFW rather than the Auxiliary.
Join Us in Serving Veterans
Auxiliary members volunteer in support of veterans and military families, assist with Post and community events, promote Americanism, support youth programs and help ensure that no veteran or military family is forgotten.
Whether you can volunteer regularly or help with a few special events each year, your time, experience and talents can make a difference. Contact VFW Post 8905 to learn more about joining our local Auxiliary.
