Senate Bill: S. 4487
House Companion Bill: H.R. 8552
Congress: 119th Congress
Proposed Effective Date: December 1, 2026
The Veterans’ Compensation Cost-of-Living Adjustment Act of 2026 would increase certain Department of Veterans Affairs benefit payments by the same percentage applied to Social Security benefits.
The adjustment would apply to disability compensation for veterans with service-connected disabilities, additional compensation for eligible dependents, clothing allowances, and Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) for eligible surviving spouses and children.
The VFW supports annual cost-of-living adjustments that help veterans, dependents, and survivors maintain financial stability as the cost of living increases.
The VFW’s 2026 legislative priorities focus on protecting earned benefits and improving services for veterans, service members, their families, and survivors.
